Background on Soil Salinity
Most plants struggle to grow in soil with too much salt. Climate change threatens to increase salinity, yet our understanding of the causes and consequences of this phenomenon remain limited due to a lack of data.

Contribute to the Database
This database includes measurements of soil salinity collected by a combination of government agencies and academic researchers. We are always on the lookout to include more data, both in Bangladesh and in other countries.
If you are conducting fieldwork in rural areas, we encourage you to equip field staff with low-cost agronomic sensors that can quickly and easily test soil conditions during the course of enumerators' normal research activities.
If you have already collected soil salinity data not listed here or are interested in collecting new data in the course of your research, please contact Dev Patel at devapatel3 at gmail dot com.
